DGCA ATPL Study Guide: Subjects, Question Banks & Where to Start

3 min read

This is the hub for DGCA ATPL theory on Ghost Aviator: which subjects exist, where each one lives on the site, what is available today, and the order I would use them in. Self-study for the ATPL track is free here.

First, the eligibility point students get wrong: the 1,500-hour figure is about issue of the licence, not about sitting the theory papers. Read ATPL theory before 1,500 hours before you plan your attempts, and confirm the current rules on PARIKSHA.

The ATPL subjects on Ghost Aviator

Subject Chapters on the site
Air Regulations (Advanced)8
Aviation Meteorology (Advanced)6
Air Navigation (Advanced)6
Technical General (Advanced)5
Radio Aids & Instruments (Advanced)5
Performance (Advanced)5
Human Performance & Limitations28
Flight Planning & Monitoring5

The whole track is listed on the ATPL hub page, chapter by chapter.

What is available today (October 2026)

Coverage is not equal across subjects, and I would rather tell you than let you find out mid-preparation.

  • Question practice is deepest for Air Regulations, Meteorology and Navigation. The ATPL Air Regulations and Meteorology subjects currently share question banks with their CPL counterparts, so you can drill them in the Air Regulations question bank and the Meteorology question bank, or take a random practice paper for ATPL Air Regulations, ATPL Meteorology or ATPL Navigation.
  • Human Performance & Limitations has full chapter notes across all 28 chapters.
  • The other ATPL subjects are structured by chapter but are still being built out. Their question banks are small today, so do not rely on them alone.

How I would use the track

  1. Check eligibility and your computer number. See the computer number guide and the ATPL timing guide.
  2. Refresh your CPL foundation where it is weak. ATPL papers deepen the same disciplines. Revisit CPL Meteorology, CPL Air Regulations and CPL Air Navigation first if those papers were marginal.
  3. Take one ATPL subject at a time. Read the chapter notes, practise the chapter questions, then sit a timed paper.
  4. Check the current paper format before you book. Question counts and timings for ATPL papers should be confirmed on PARIKSHA, not taken from a coaching page.
